St.Comgalls
Until the original St.Comgalls was built, in the early 1840's,
Mass was often said in the house of a parishioner. The community continued
to grow and in the mid 1930's the Sisters of Mercy opened a school and convent
in Donaghadee. Around the same time, a large house was purchased which provided
accommodation for the first resident priest and a site for the new St.Annes
primary school, built in 1963; In the grounds of the original St.Comgalls church is a holy well
dating back to Celtic times.
